2006 Pura Inspiración Film Contest Guidelines

Puro Mexicano & Reel Inspiration are looking for inspiring documentary and narrative films about the good in our world. There's a special "Celebrating Cultural Diversity Award" for the filmmaker who best incorporates cultural heritage and traditions into their story.

RULES

Movies entered in the adult competition must be 10 minutes or less including credits. Teens may submit movies up to 5 minutes. Kids' movies may be up to 3 minutes long.

· Movies for kids' contest must be written and directed by kids, ages 12 and under.

· Teen entries must be written, directed and shot entirely by teens, ages 13-18.

Movies may be shot in any format but must be submitted on VHS, DVD, or mini DV.
Movies should be appropriate for a general audience.
No profanity, insulting or distasteful humor, nudity, nor gratuitous sex or violence, please.
Non-English entries must have subtitles.

Filmmaker must own the rights to all images and music. This means:

· Get signatures from all the people appearing in your film and location owners on simple release forms.

· You must certify in writing that all music is cleared for broadcast. You may use royalty-free packages or have a member of your team provide original music.

· Don't use copyrighted cartoon characters or scenes from TV shows or movies.

Entries MUST include the following:

· A completed copy of application (including 1-2 sentence synopsis) and the signed release.

· 1/2" VHS tape, DVD or mini DV of movie. Do not send your only copy. Include a self-addressed envelope (SASE) if you want it returned. Label movie with your name & title.

· Credits: a complete principle cast & crew list (teens and kids include their ages).

· One quality image from the movie (production still) if available. This image may be sent by mail or e-mailed to reelinspiration@hotmail.com (preferably on jpeg or tifs.)

· Entry fees: Adults - $20. Teens: (ages 13-18) $10. Kids: (12 and under) FREE!

PRIZES:
Adult Semi-finalists will be judged by industry professionals at our awards screening November 15th at the Fox Theatre in Tucson, AZ. Adult semi-finalists receive passes to the Puro Meixcano: Tucson Film Festival that weekend. Adult finalists will be promoted by inclusion on the Winners Reel which may be screened at various organizations. Prizes to be announced on our website as they become known. Previous prizes included: a directing workshop ($1200 value) acting workshop ($85), professional script critique ($325), a production class ($75), and a day's shoot at Gammon's Gulch Western set ($500). Separate children's and teens awards. Qualifying children's entries screened at the Children's Showcase on November 4th.
